The Molzen Corbin project team successfully addressed project challenges and transformed Valley Drive into a modern urban corridor in the heart of the City of Las Cruces that will make traveling safer and more efficient for decades to come. These improvements included enhanced driving lanes, turning lanes, buffered bicycle lanes, buffered sidewalks, raised medians, and defined driveways. Below the surface, a complete storm drain system was installed with capacity for future expansion, and the water, sanitary sewer, and gas systems were all replaced. To further promote bicycle safety, a “Bike Box” was installed at the intersection of Avenida de Mesilla and Hickory, the first in Las Cruces. The most unique aspect of this project was the “Virtual Public Meetings,” which substantially increased public involvement and feedback.
