The Santa Fe Regional Airport Terminal Building, a vital gateway to northern New Mexico for a wide range of travelers, had become too small to handle rising passenger volumes, leading to overcrowding, long TSA lines, and diminished travel experiences. To address these issues, the City partnered with Molzen Corbin to expand and modernize the 1950s-era terminal while preserving its distinctive Southwestern style. The project more than doubled the terminal’s size, added energy-efficient and sustainable features that earned LEED Silver Certification, and improved accessibility and safety standards. Key improvements included enhanced post-TSA holding areas, redesigned parking and entrance roads, and thoughtful planning to maintain airport operations during construction. Completed in October 2024, the expansion blends form and function to create a welcoming, efficient, and culturally rich transportation hub.
