Corporate jets use Raton Municipal Airport/Crews Field (RTN) to bring people in for hunting, fishing, and camping opportunities in the area. Airport staff observed elk, antelope, deer, and bear on the runways at different times of year, presenting a safety issue for landing aircraft. When the FAA discovered this, they required Raton to install a new high game fence around the Airport perimeter to prevent game from entering. Molzen Corbin assisted the City of Raton in securing a separate grant from the FAA and the NMDOT/AD to construct 40,000 linear feet of fence around the perimeter. Wooden posts were used to blend in with the surrounding forested terrain.
