On four occasions over a 20-year period, the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) attempted to upgrade NM 47 through the Town of Peralta, but engineers were unable to present a drainage solution that could both garner public support and fit within the budget. Molzen Corbin was able to design and promote a drainage collection concept that was successfully accepted during intense public outreach forums and approved for the first time in New Mexico by the NMDOT. Utilizing an innovative drainage concept, our transportation and drainage team proposed the use of pervious concrete paving that would collect storm water from the driving surface and efficiently convey flows underground, replenishing the water table.
