The Roswell International Air Center National Championship Air Races Infrastructure Program was a highly collaborative effort among the City of Roswell, Chavez County, the State of New Mexico, the Reno Air Racing Association and Molzen Corbin to plan, design, construct, and activate a complex event site in just over one year. Molzen Corbin led planning, civil, electrical, and architectural design services to deliver critical infrastructure supporting the inaugural Air Races and enhancing the airport’s long-term operational capacity, including grading and drainage for a 100-acre viewing and hosting area, a 3,900-foot taxiway extension to improve airfield access and race operations, comprehensive electrical distribution upgrades to power vendors and event systems, and a signature Entryway Gateway symbolizing Roswell’s new identity as the home of the National Championship Air Races. The project demonstrates how innovation, adaptability, and strong partnerships can meet an aggressive timeline while advancing community pride, economic impact, and national visibility through engineering excellence.
