The City of Moriarty’s Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system has brought a significant change to the way the City’s water distribution system is controlled and monitored. For 10 years the water system required significant operator involvement. Driving from site-to-site to start and stop pumps, record data and then take the data back to the office to generate the required regulatory and operational reports was a full-time job in itself. The new SCADA system now gives the operational staff the ability to monitor the entire system from a single location, including viewing system/equipment status, alarm history, and historical data. The staff can also remotely adjust operational set-points, control equipment, and generate reports.
