This FAA- and NMDOT-funded project included the reconstruction of a 6,000-foot runway and its parallel taxiway, as well as reconstruction of both the edge lighting systems and construction of Taxiway C. The existing asphalt concrete pavement was pulverized and processed in place to modify the existing crushed aggregate base course, and a new four-inch superpave asphalt concrete surface constructed. Lighting duct, conductors and light fixtures were installed for the runway and taxiway edge light systems. Excess earthwork was used to grade an extended runway safety area that can be used as the subgrade for a future extension.
