Los Lunas

Molzen Corbin has provided Los Lunas with our services for review of development designs for almost 50 years on an on-call basis. These reviews included drainage as well as all other infrastructure components related to subdivision development.

Molzen Corbin acted as the Engineer Supervising Construction for this $1.1-million flood control project, which was designed to protect the Village of Los Lunas against flows from a nearby arroyo.

The new Village of Los Lunas Wastewater Treatment Facility, designed by Molzen Corbin was awarded 2011 Engineering Excellence Awards by both the New Mexico Chapter and National Organization of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC).

This project focused on decreasing severe congestion in a high-traffic area close to a bank and post office. Molzen Corbin engineers worked extensively, with local businesses to develop sound viable solutions to tie in the Carson Drive improvements into their access points.

Although once a residence, the building historically housed the police department, library and numerous commercial enterprises until the Village decided that a place was needed to house the extensive Village photo archive and to display artifacts collected from the district's rich history.

The Los Lunas Boys and Girls Youth Center is a public recreational facility designed to accommodate a variety of recreational functions. The Youth Center is intended to accommodate youth programs and idle time activities, while its location enhances an adjacent public park and picnic area.

The Visitors Center was built to accommodate the need for a venue for the Village to promote the community to visitors and prospective businesses looking to relocate to the area. The Visitor Center was the first building in Heritage Park which later would house the Los Lunas Wellness Center as well as a variety of recreation facilities.

Molzen Corbin served as the prime architect for the renovation, extension and ADA compliance of all 5 phases of this project beginning with the total renovation of a 2,400-square-foot vacant medical office building.

In an innovative use of existing facilities, Los Lunas’ former Village Hall was extensively renovated to meet current codes. The new fire station functions as the central dispatch center for the Village and provides training facilities for firefighters.

The design of the Los Lunas Intermodal Transportation Center recalls local history while serving the technological needs of a growing community in the 21st century while meeting USGBC Green Building standards for sustainability. This award winning facility has served to unite the community.
