The City needed to serve multiple parks and athletic fields using a limited infrastructure with effluent reuse water stored in a 250,000-gallon steel reservoir at the City of Las Vegas treatment plant. Due to effective planning and an innovative design and “timesharing” approach, a single pipe now serves two irrigation areas with significantly different pressure and flow conditions: the athletic fields at Keys Park and the golf course irrigation pond at New Mexico Highlands University. The reuse water pumped to storage ponds at New Mexico Highlands University Golf Course is used to irrigate the course, while other reuse water is applied to baseball fields at Keys Park.
