Village of Tijeras Secures $750,000 Grant

With a population of only 541, the Village of Tijeras happens to be home to a burgeoning senior center with an enrollment of almost 500 senior citizens. Molzen Corbin has been involved since the center’s inception by leading the design and construction of phases 1–3 of the Village of Tijeras Senior Center beginning in 2011. The final phase 4, set to be completed by 2022, adds an additional 3,600 sq ft to the existing structure providing much needed space for lunch, fitness, music classes, and other activities that the seniors enjoy. With our assistance, the Village was able to secure capital outlay funding for a portion of phase 4; however, in order to fund the entire project, the Village needed to seek funds from other resources by applying for grants.
Molzen Corbin is proud to have helped Tijeras secure $750,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to complete the final phase of their senior center. Specialized grant services provided to the village allowed the small mountain community to develop a competitive application that stood out among others. Congratulations to the Village of Tijeras and the senior citizens who will benefit from this project for years to come.
