Bernalillo County Hosts Ribbon Cutting for Molzen Corbin-Designed Sunset Road Project

On October 25, 2019, Bernalillo County hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony at Armijo Elementary School unveiling the Sunset Road Improvements project. Molzen Corbin was humbled to see the enthusiastic response of the community and especially the students of Armijo Elementary School. “We start every project knowing that, no matter how big or small, it is important to the community, and once complete, it will impact the quality of life of those residents,” explained Mr. Kevin Eades, Executive Vice President of Civil Engineering.
Molzen Corbin’s recently completed Sunset Road Improvements Project is a prime example of an infrastructure project that has a huge impact for surrounding residents. Sunset Road, a moderate capacity collector road in Bernalillo County’s South Valley, was desperately in need of safety and roadway improvements. Due to its location next to Armijo Elementary School, Molzen Corbin ensured safety was a key driver in all engineering design improvements.
Sidewalks, bike lanes, curbs, and gutters, as well as traffic calming features, were key safety improvements to enhance multi-modal accessibility and to reduce and discourage speeding. In addition, the project included a new storm drain system, pavement rehabilitation, and new sewer collector lines. - KRQE News Story
