2017 Double Eagle Aviation Adventure a Success

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (June 12, 2017) – The Double Eagle Aviation Adventure (DEAA) is an annual summer camp for teens to learn about aviation and career opportunities in engineering. For a week, they get to be pilots and learn about wind, instruments, density altitude and other aspects of flying. It is also an effort to engage our youth, not only to get them interested in flying, but to encourage careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
Each year, Molzen Corbin sends two of our Engineer Interns, and one of our “veteran” engineers with Jane Lucero from NMDOT Aviation, to make a presentation about New Mexico’s airports. Our presentation illustrates to these teens that the career possibilities are endless. We attempt to show them what a real life engineer does on a daily basis, not just in airports, but in all aspects of engineering, and how engineers make a difference in the world.
Electrical engineer, Jessica Rivas, along with civil engineers, Jay Ashbacher and Kent Freier have participated in this camp for many years. Molzen Corbin is committed to our youth and their future and we strive to share our knowledge at youth events, such as the DEAA, to encourage our teens to stay involved in STEM and to learn that the sky’s the limit!
