Highways and Interstates

The original interchange was constructed over 40 years ago, and at that time, was located in a rural part of Santa Fe County. The NMDOT selected this design for its ability to accommodate future traffic growth within this developing area of Santa Fe.

This award-winning project modernized geometrics, improved public safety and rebuilt aging infrastructure at the intersection of two major national highways. The finished roadway includes flyover bridges that keep traffic moving efficiently and new ramps with acceleration and deceleration zones that make the freeway entrances and exits safer.

This project involved the planning, design and construction of a new interchange, including a new bridge, located on I-25 and included public participation, community input and coordination with multiple federal, state and local entities. The bridge uniquely incorporates original art work done by a local artist.

The addition of two lanes (18 miles each direction) now makes commuting a lot easier for motorists on I-10 from Las Cruces to the Texas border near El Paso. Molzen Corbin managed and brought the project to completion on time under extremely tight deadline pressures to comply with Stimulus Funding requirements.
